About us

wvorigin โ€” gaming back to the origin.

Who we are

wvorigin is a small, independent game studio with a simple belief: games should be fun first. We strip away the clutter โ€” endless menus, forced sign-ups, pay-to-win โ€” and get back to the origin of what makes playing great: a clever idea you can pick up in seconds and enjoy all evening. The studio is led by Wim, who sets its direction and makes the games.

We host most of it ourselves: the game and your data run on our own infrastructure in the Netherlands, not on a big cloud platform. At the edge we use Cloudflare for speed and security, but we are set up so we can switch providers without much hassle.

What we make

Our games start from a single twist and run with it. Snail Racer, our first release, asks the opposite question of every other racer: what if finishing LAST was the goal? It is free, plays straight in your browser on phone or desktop, has twenty escalating levels, local split-screen and live online multiplayer โ€” and you need to download nothing to start.

How we build

Small and hands-on. Every release ships from a version tag and rolls out automatically, one server at a time, so the games stay online while they update. We write our own engine โ€” Snail Racer's entire soundtrack, for example, is generated live in the browser; there is not one audio file in the game.

What we believe

Fun first, no dark patterns. You can play everything as a guest, accounts are optional, and we ask for the bare minimum of data. We show ads to keep the games free, with a planned option to remove them โ€” and never pay-to-win.

What's next

Snail Racer keeps growing โ€” more levels, more mechanics โ€” and new games are on the roadmap. Follow along on the devlog, or get in touch if you would like to work with us.
