Who we are

wvorigin.com ("wvorigin", "we", "us") is an independent game website that lets you play browser games such as Snail Racer for free. You can reach us at support [at] wvorigin.com.

What we collect

  • Local game data. Snail Racer stores your progress and settings in your browser's localStorage. This stays on your device; we don't upload that storage itself.
  • Leaderboard. Snail Racer has a global leaderboard. When you play Endless or finish a level, we automatically send your score/time and the name you chose to our leaderboard — including as a guest — and that name is publicly visible on the board. We also count plays anonymously (which mode/level, start/finish) for our own statistics.
  • Standard server logs. Like most websites, our servers and our CDN (Cloudflare) process technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and protect against abuse.
  • Accounts are optional. You can play as a guest without registering — your progress then stays in your browser. See the Accounts section below if you choose to create one.

Accounts (optional)

If you create a wvorigin account, we additionally process:

  • Username — chosen by you; must be unique.
  • Email address — used only to confirm your account, let you reset your password, and (if you opt in) send occasional product updates, at most once a month.
  • Password — stored only as a salted argon2id hash; we never store or see your actual password.
  • Game progress (scores, completed levels) — so it syncs across your devices.
  • Minimal security data (a shortened hash of your IP address and timestamps) — to rate-limit abuse and protect your account.
  • Google sign-in (if you use it) — a Google account identifier, so we recognise you when you come back. We never receive your Google password.

If you choose “Sign in with Google”, Google shares your email address and basic profile (your name) with us so we can create or link your wvorigin account. We use only the email to identify the account — accounts are matched by email, so the same account works whether you sign in with Google, with a password, or both — and we have no further access to your Google account.

Legal basis: your consent, given when you create the account. Update emails require a separate optional opt-in that you can withdraw at any time (every update email has an unsubscribe link).

Where it is stored: account data and progress are kept in our own database in the European Union. Confirmation, reset and update emails are sent via Resend (region eu-west-1, EU), which acts as our processor under a data-processing agreement.

Deleting your data: you can delete your account at any time from the profile screen in the game (or by emailing support [at] wvorigin.com). Your account is deactivated immediately and then permanently erased — together with your progress and sign-in tokens — after a 6-week grace period. Simply logging back in during those 6 weeks cancels the deletion and restores your account.

Backups: we keep database backups for up to 30 days for disaster recovery. After your account is permanently erased, any copies still present in backups are removed within 30 days as those backups rotate out.

Analytics

To see how the site is used, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is cookieless — it stores nothing on your device, doesn't track you across other sites, and only produces aggregate, non-identifying statistics such as page views and load times. Because it needs no consent-based storage, we run it under our legitimate interest in measuring and improving the site, without asking for consent.

Advertising & cookies (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show advertisements, which is how we keep wvorigin free to play. To do this:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You control personalised ads primarily through our cookie/consent settings (decline, and you'll see at most non-personalised, contextual ads). You can also turn off personalisation in your Google Ad Settings, or opt out of interest-based ads from third parties via youronlinechoices.eu (EU) or aboutads.info/choices (US).

Consent (EU/EEA & UK)

If you visit from the European Economic Area or the UK, we ask for your consent before personalised advertising cookies are set, using Google Consent Mode. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time.

We may show non-personalised (contextual) ads without your consent, because they don't rely on tracking tailored to you. We only ask for consent for personalised ads.

Children

wvorigin is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us at support [at] wvorigin.com to exercise them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site evolves (for example, when we add optional accounts or an ad-free purchase). Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new date.
